To protect a Local Wildlife Site and valuable open green space, Julian was commissioned to carry out two ecological evaluations and critiques of a proposed housing development near the National Forest boundary. As part of an ongoing ecological surveillance programme, Julian surveyed 40 permanent quadrants and carried out rapid assessment of fields under grassland restoration using the JNCC Common Standards Monitoring Methodology. Client: Plantlife
Working alongside the Brecon Beacons National Park, Julian suggested innovative and alternative methods to control Australian Swamp Stonecrop – Crassula hemlsii, that may be used across Wales to control this invasive species. Client: Wales Resilient Ecology Network
